The tight-knit community of Beaver Springs is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Kolbe Straw, who tragically died in an accident. Kolbe was not only a devoted husband and father but also a respected worker in the construction and forestry industries. He was just 32 years old.
Kolbe leaves behind his wife, Paige Straw, and their young daughter, Izzy. Paige, who is 28 weeks pregnant, now faces the unimaginable — continuing life as a widow while preparing to welcome their second child in September.
A GoFundMe campaign organized by family friend Morgan Shirey has raised over $20,000 from nearly 150 donations in just a short time, showing the depth of love and support for the Straw family. The fundraiser aims to cover funeral expenses, home repairs, and Paige’s maternity leave. “These girls were Kolbe’s world and he was theirs – their helper, protector, and provider,” Shirey wrote. “More than anything, we ask for your prayers.”
Kolbe worked at Goss Forestry, LLC and was also a General Foreman at Enerfab, Inc. Previously, he served as a Journeyman Millwright with the Millwright Local Union 443. He studied welding and construction management at Harrisburg Area Community College and was a proud graduate of Lower Dauphin Senior High School.
Tributes have poured in from friends, coworkers, and loved ones. Jordan Fox expressed the disbelief many feel, writing, “I can’t even begin to understand this tragedy, and frankly I’m speechless. If you have the ability, please donate. Love you bird Kolbe Straw ❤️”
Another friend, Morgan Sorber, urged others to help with meals or gift cards for the grieving family, saying, “Please consider making a meal or donating restaurant gift cards for Paige Straw and Izzy as they mourn the loss of Kolbe.”
Kolbe was known for his hardworking nature, big heart, and unwavering love for his family. His sudden death has left a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
As the community grieves, they stand united in supporting Paige, Izzy, and the unborn child Kolbe never got to meet — a reminder that even in the darkest times, love and solidarity shine brightest.
